WorldSBK 2027 Calendar: China debuts, Valencia returns and last dance at Phillip Island

The WorldSBK 2027 calendar promises an exciting season, with 12 rounds across nine countries and three continents. From the traditional season opener in Australia to a new season finale in China, the provisional schedule brings several important changes for riders and fans.

The return of Valencia, the arrival of Shanghai and the final WorldSBK visit to Phillip Island make the SBK calendar 2027 one to watch, while WorldSSP, WorldSPB and WorldWCR will add more racing action throughout the year.

The main changes to the 2027 WorldSBK Calendar

The 2027 season features three major talking points: a new destination in China, the return of Valencia and one final visit to Phillip Island.

China will host the season finale for the first time, with the Shanghai International Circuit scheduled to stage the final round on 29–31 October. The venue will welcome both WorldSBK and WorldSSP, bringing the championship to a new location for the decisive races of the season. The addition of Shanghai also reflects the growing importance of the Chinese market and the arrival of new manufacturers in the wider motorcycle industry.

Another major change is the return of Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, which will host WorldSBK for the first time since 2010. Scheduled for 2–4 April, the Spanish venue becomes the third round of the season and the second European stop. All four championships will compete there, giving fans a full weekend of racing. Valencia joins MotorLand Aragón as one of Spain’s two venues on the 2027 calendar, while Jerez will be absent because of ongoing renovation work.

The season will also mark the end of WorldSBK’s current chapter at Phillip Island. The Australian circuit will host the opening round on 19–21 February before the Australian Round moves to The Bend in 2028. Famous for its fast, flowing corners and spectacular coastal setting, Phillip Island has been a distinctive part of the championship for years. The 2027 event will therefore be a special occasion for riders and fans, with the official WorldSBK and WorldSSP test scheduled for 15–16 February.

Beyond these headline changes, the calendar retains several familiar European venues. Portimão, Assen, Aragón, Most, Misano, Donington Park, Magny-Cours, Cremona and Estoril will all play their part in a season that runs from February to the end of October.

WorldSBK and WorldSSP: a season across three continents

The premier production-based motorcycle racing championship begins its 2027 campaign at Phillip Island, Australia, on 19–21 February. The opening round will carry extra significance because it is the final time WorldSBK is scheduled to race at the iconic circuit before the Australian Round moves to The Bend in 2028. Riders will then have to adapt quickly as the championship moves to Europe in March.

The European leg begins at Portimão, Portugal, on 19–21 March, followed by the return to Valencia on 2–4 April. The Circuit Ricardo Tormo will offer a different challenge, with its stadium-style layout giving spectators views across much of the track. The championship then heads to Assen in the Netherlands on 16–18 April, before returning to Spain for the Aragón round on 21–23 May.

The schedule continues through the early summer with visits to Most in Czechia on 4–6 June and Misano in Italy on 18–20 June. Donington Park follows on 9–11 July, providing the final round before the summer break. After the pause, WorldSBK resumes at Magny-Cours in France on 3–5 September, followed by Cremona in Italy on 24–26 September. Estoril hosts the penultimate round on 15–17 October, before the championship reaches its new destination.

The final round takes place at Shanghai International Circuit on 29–31 October. With the title fight potentially going down to the last races, the Chinese venue will provide a fresh setting for the season finale. The provisional calendar therefore combines familiar circuits with a significant geographical change, giving teams a wide range of tracks and conditions to tackle.

WorldSSP will follow the same 12-round schedule as WorldSBK, giving the Supersport championship a presence at every event from the Australian opener to the Chinese finale. This means riders will face a varied season, moving from Phillip Island’s fast corners to the technical European circuits before finishing at Shanghai International Circuit in late October.

The shared schedule ensures that both championships will experience the same circuits and conditions throughout the year, while offering fans a consistent programme of racing at every round.

WorldSPB: eight rounds and a New Challenge at Donington

The WorldSPB championship will return for another season in 2027, with an eight-round campaign forming part of the wider WorldSBK programme. Although it will not compete at every round, the class will visit all European venues except for Most and Cremona to provide another competitive category for fans to follow.

WorldSPB will begin its season at Portimão on 19–21 March, where it will join WorldSBK and WorldSSP. The Portuguese event will also mark the start of the WorldWCR season, making it an important early-season meeting for the wider paddock. The official test for WorldSPB and WorldWCR is scheduled for 15 March at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

Valencia will be another important stop, with all four championships scheduled to race at Circuit Ricardo Tormo on 2–4 April. This will give WorldSPB riders the opportunity to compete at a venue returning to the WorldSBK calendar after a long absence. The class will also feature at Donington Park on 9–11 July, where it will make its first appearance at the Leicestershire circuit.

The season will conclude at Estoril on 15–17 October, which hosts the final round of the eight-event championship. This places the WorldSPB finale two weeks before the final WorldSBK and WorldSSP races in China. With a more compact schedule than the premier classes, each round will carry considerable importance in the fight for the WorldSPB title.
